Right after the live-concert of the legendary SL-musician Cyberpiper last Sunday evening the winners of the Uschi Island Scavenger Hunt were announced.
Kurz Bert came in first and received L$ 3.000 trophy money. Jens Hanriot was second and therefore took L$ 1.000 home. Vroni Vendetta on third place achieved L$ 500.
These three sent the searched over-all-code – which was made up of the partial-codes from the 12 objects I dropped on the two sims – first: 6N7-NDY-99L-B2K-GQJ-5TE-VU9-4C3-LQH-925-FA7-KGZ.
The attendees had visibly fun at the scavenger hunt although it could have been more of them from our point of view. It stayed unlcear whether the puzzles were too difficult or if the bigger part of the Uschians simply wasn’t keen on joining such a virtual scavenger hunt.
The basic idea behind this game was to animate the Uschians to explore the two sims so that they will find interesting places they didn’t know before even though they were already Uschi-members. Many Uschians only visit the island when there is a party, others are living here but don’t have anything to do with the Uschi community.
That’s okay, nevertheless they might like to play a bigger part in the community if they only knew what interesting places Uschi Island and Uschi Ocean are offering to visitors and members. E.g. places where one could swim, shop, dive, surf, exercise skydiving or run a sailing regatta.
At the moment it’s hard to say if this concept worked out or not. Fact is that at least those Uschians who joined the game gave a positive feedback (with one exception). It remains to be seen if really more Uschi-group-members will spend their spare time at Uschi Island.
Finally the resolution of the scavenger hunt is listed below. Where were the searched objects and how could one have found them on the basis of the hints?
Uschi Scavenger Hunt object 01: Duckling

The first hint referred to the doghouse of Uschi, the sim’s mascot. The doghouse is right next to the landing point at Uschi Island and in front of it one could see a little duckling, the first object.
Uschi Scavenger Hunt object 02: Penguin

Well, „my“ island with the burning trailer at Uschi Ocean really can’t be missed. And right in front of the trailer was the penguin.
Uschi Scavenger Hunt object 03: Byōbu

A Byōbu is a traditional Japanese folding screen. Like described in the hint this object was placed at the underwater toxic waste drain right next to the underwater-disco at Uschi Island.
Uschi Scavenger Hunt object 04: Inflatable chair

The fourth object was a blue inflatable chair (misleadingly called „bubble chair“ in SL which is in fact a different chair-type). I dropped it at the sky divers’s springboard, easy accessible thru Uschi Island’s teleport-system.
Uschi Scavenger Hunt object 05: Brain in a jar

One of the most difficult to find objects was for sure the „brain in a jar“ (described as a „weird thing“ in the hint) placed in Pipi Pfeffer’s house. But if one took a closer look at Pipi’s house (which position was depicted in the hint, too) one could see the „brain in a jar“ in a rack on the upper floor right next to the skull mentioned in the hint. This „brain“ was a „remnant“ of our prim-party at Pipi’s house a couple of weeks ago.
Uschi Scavenger Hunt object 06: Portrait of Koks

The main building at the Uschi Pier is of course the one with the big „Uschi Pier“ sign at the front. But to ensure that really everybody gets it I wrote in the hint that Trinity Robson’s helicopter parks right next to this building (this heli really can’t be missed). And at the upper floor of this house one could find the sixth object, a portrait of myself ^^.
Uschi Scavenger Hunt object 07: Jack-o’-lantern

Where does the Grim Reaper empties his bowels? Of course at the privy right behind the cemetery. And in the privy players could find this Jack-o’-lantern, the seventh object.
Uschi Scavenger Hunt object 08: Crab

Anja Halberstadt’s helicopter crashed in the water near the underwater-disco as could everyone easily read and see at the given snapshot. So here one could find the wreckage and the eighth object, a crab.
Uschi Scavenger Hunt object 09: Kelp

Where is the sauna at Uschi Island? Well, the hint was that people in a sauna are almost naked. And what’s the place for naked people at Uschi Island? That’s right, the nude beach. Here’s the sauna with a kelp right in the middle.
Uschi Scavenger Hunt object 10: Radio

„An eye-catching cone of light which gleams thru the sims, there it is, now it’s gone, there it is again, gone, there, gone…“ – where could this cone of light come from? Some attendees guessed it has to be the outdoor-light at the Uschi Pier because it always switches between on and off. But this light doesn’t gleam thru the sims – unlike the lighthouse. And at the lighthouse one could find this antique radio.
Uschi Scavenger Hunt object 11: Floor lamp

The floor lamp right next to the pirate treasure chest in the underwater-cave couldn’t be missed. The only difficult thing for Uschi-newbies could have been to find the chest and that’s why I referred to the animated diving tour which Uschi Island offers to visitors („Tauch-Tour“ in the TP-list). And among other places this animated diving tour leads the visitor to the cave with the treasure chest.
Uschi Scavenger Hunt object 12: Galaxy Cow

As is well-known one of my favorite SL classics is Starax Statosky’s Galaxy Cow. This time I placed it by the only wreckage on an island at Uschi Ocean. All other wrecks at Uschi Island / Uschi Ocean are underwater and therefore couldn’t be meant.
Congratulation to the winners and thanks to everyone else who tried to unravel the Uschi Scavenger Hunt mystery :).
